Prime Video swings into 1930s New York with Spider-Noir and cleanses its soul with some Good Omens in its May highlights. Get ready for Jack Ryan: Ghost War and more streaming gems!
It’s time for our monthly check-in with the team at Prime Video to find out what’s streaming in May 2026. With April now crossed off the calendar, the streamer is unveiling some hidden gems to keep us entertained during the early Summer nights. And, indeed, they have a lineup worthy of your subscription this month. With a selection of juicy new titles releasing throughout the month and another bumper crop of sports to enjoy, Prime Video is definitely the place to be as we continue to plow through the second quarter of 2026. Get ready to update your May watchlist as we review a month of fresh titles.
NEW RELEASES
After unleashing the final season of The Boys, one can be forgiven for thinking that the streamer would be easing back on the big releases, but you’d be dead wrong. Prime Video’s carefully curated catalog of May releases is like an early Summer cocktail. The streaming service practically invites us to stay in with new releases, including the finale of Good Omens, and the premiere of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Ghost War.
But if that’s not enough to make you reach for the remote, May takes us into the Spider-Verse for the long-awaited debut of Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir. Presented in both black-and-white and full-color formats, the Marvel series promises to offer fans the most visually spectacular live-action Spider-Man series to date. Starring Cage as Ben Reilly, aka The Spider, the series is a shoo-in to deliver a welcome dose of Spider-Man brilliance as the web-slinger swings through 1930s New York’s crime bosses. Sounds like a banger, right? We’ve had a sneak peek at the series, and although we cannot share our thoughts just yet, we urge you not to miss it.

But thankfully, the fun doesn’t end there. In May, some of this year’s biggest cinema hits will be released on digital platforms. The month starts with Paramount’s brilliant blockbuster Scream 7 before unleashing The Super Mario Bros Galaxy Movie. And wrapping up the month’s big releases is StudioCanal’s California Schemin’. We were lucky enough to get an early look at these bangers and had a blast with them all.
SCREAM 7
In his review of Scream 7, our reviewer Carl Roberts said: “Ghostface’s edge has been blunted. From what started out as a terrific, iconic, and knowing horror movie with the original film, Scream 7 is anything but. It isn’t bad, it’s just too predictable. Many people who I saw the film with guessed who the killer was almost immediately. That is never a good sign for a staple of horror cinema. Despite some inventive, nasty, gory, and bloodthirsty kills, the film feels devoid of suspense. It does have some great knowing winks at what’s gone before, along with throwbacks to the first few movies. However, it relies on these too much. And despite some jump scares, it simply isn’t scary.”
SUPER MARIO BROS GALAXY
In our review of Universal’s Super Mario Galaxy Movie, our reviewer Nick Gibbs-McNeil said, “This latest adventure is colorful, fast-paced, and full of incredible nods to Nintendo’s past. These are guaranteed to excite the inner child within every adult. And apart from laughter in the right places, you won’t hear a mutter from any youngsters you take to the cinema to see this film. The big screen transfixed every kid in the media screening throughout the movie.” Read his full review here.

CALIFORNIA SCHEMIN’
And finally, we had a blast with StudioCanal’s California Schemin’. We were fortunate enough to attend a VERY early screening of the film with director James McAvoy and had a blast with his musical take on a Scottish classic. In my review of the film, I said, “California Schemin’ is an impressive showcase for James McAvoy’s directorial debut. The actor truly excels behind the camera, delivering a story filled with conviction and gritty intensity. Its inherently Scottish storyline, rags-to-riches true-life tale, and emotional beats make the film a fun rollercoaster ride that honors McAvoy’s heritage while celebrating Scotland’s underrated performers. With its sharp screenplay, edgy needle drops, and emotionally powerful story, the film is an entertaining hit with a heart of 100% pure Scottish gold.”
So, grab your snacks and settle in for a month full of fresh entertainment on Prime Video!
