After an outstanding first season and receiving great acclaim, Sky confirms a second season of Prisoner. Izuka Hoyle is confirmed to return.
Sky today announced that Sky Original action thriller Prisoner has been commissioned for a second series. It was created and written by Academy Award and BAFTA-nominated writer Matt Charman (Hostage, Bridge of Spies). Scottish BAFTA Award winner Izuka Hoyle (Boiling Point, Big Boys) will reprise her role as prison transport officer Amber Todd. In addition, production is set to begin later this year.
Following its successful debut, the show has already seen significant early viewing across all six episodes. The first series sees Amber (Hoyle) tasked with escorting Tibor (Tahar Rahim), a trained killer and high-value inmate, to court to testify against his elite crime syndicate. However, when their convoy is brutally ambushed, they are left handcuffed together and on the run. This forces her to put her life in his hands. Furthermore, the show is described by TV Times as “a real action-packed treat” and praised by Sunday Times Culture for its cast, “a smart blend of rising stars – Izuka Hoyle, who is excellent – and old-guard legends.” All episodes of Prisoner are now available on Sky and streaming service NOW.
SEASON TWO
Series two will expand the tense, morally complex world of Prisoner, with Amber back in uniform – but not back to normal. Still carrying the scars of past events, and struggling to hold her family together, she is tasked with escorting a polarising US academic–turned–notorious killer for extradition, a woman whose case has divided opinion. When there is an attempted execution from within law enforcement, Amber is framed for murder – challenging everything she stands for.

Prisoner is produced by Binocular in association with Sky Studios. The new series is written and created by showrunner Matt Charman. He is joined by Sophie Petzal as writer. Furthermore, executive producers are Matt Charman, Foz Allan, Sophie Petzal, and Adrian Sturges for Sky Studios.
