He’s got no strings to hold him down…literally! From the minds behind Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood And Honey, Pinocchio: Unstrung is coming to UK cinemas this Summer.
He’s got no strings to hold him down. And that means bloody and terrifying trouble for UK cinemagoers. Altitude is thrilled to announce Pinocchio: Unstrung will be unleashed in UK cinemas from 24th July. Set to have its UK Premiere in June at this year’s Raindance Film Festival, where it’s been nominated for four awards, including Best UK Feature and Best Performance in a UK Feature for Richard Brake, the feature is a frightening new take on Carlo Collodi’s classic novel, The Adventures of Pinocchio.
THE PREMISE
The latest addition to the Twisted Childhood Universe films (Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey), Pinocchio: Unstrung. Geppetto (Richard Brake) introduces his grandson, James, to a magical doll called Pinocchio. Unaware of his naïve nature, James introduces his new friend to the world, leading the doll to embark on a crusade to eliminate all that is bad under the sinister Cricket’s (Robert Englund) guidance.
From writer and director Rhys Frake-Waterfield (Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey) and producer Scott Chambers (Bambi: The Reckoning, Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare), Pinocchio: Unstrung stars Richard Brake (Barbarian), Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street), and Cameron Bell in his feature debut.

Ok, the film looks seriously creepy. With the legendary Robert Englund as the voice of Jiminy Cricket (who looks positively demonic), a new way for Pinocchio to use his nose (nasty), meaning death for liars, and some seriously grisly make-up effects, the film could be something that is wildly entertaining as well as stomach-churning. Richard Brake is always on top form, no matter what role he has to play (usually villains), and seeing him as Geppetto could mean he isn’t a nasty piece of work this time. Then again, I wouldn’t bet against it.
When you wish upon a star…sometimes, your dreams WON’T come true when Pinocchio: Unstrung hits UK cinemas on July 24th. And whatever you do…Don’t lie!!
