“My Adventures with Superman delivers an entertaining new season with exciting surprises, high stakes, and epic fights.”
Fans had to wait two years since the end of season 2, but My Adventures with Superman is finally back! Season 3 comprises 10 episodes and premieres June 13 at midnight on Adult Swim, with HBO Max airing the next day.
STORY
Two years was a long wait, but it was worth it. Let’s not forget that last year we also had amazing Superman content with a new live-action film that marked the beginning of the DCU on the big screen. My Adventures with Superman, season 3, delivers on all fronts. Indeed, there’s drama, romance, a bit of humor, and a lot of action. Obviously, Brainiac was a huge threat in the previous season, but things get even longer this time. Indeed, the stakes are as high as they can be, and the fights are absolutely epic. Every time you think the animation team has reached its best level, they find a way to top it. Season 3 picks up from the fights in the Season 2 finale and continues down this path, going full shonen anime mode. The Dragon Ball Z inspiration has never felt more present.
Undoubtedly, it’s quite fitting as Superman faces his greatest challenge yet. The action will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. This season also has exciting surprises. Some of them will make fans of the comics happy, while others serve as surprises within the story itself. This series continues to stay true to who the characters are while delivering a fresh new direction. It’s part of the charm of this series. Speaking of action, Superman and Supergirl debut brand new suits this season. It feels like the natural evolution of their previous suits, and it’s their best look yet.

SUPERGIRL JOINS THE TEAM
Moreover, the main trio is turning into a quartet with Supergirl joining the team full-time. She’s as much a main character as Superman, Lois, and Jimmy. In fact, she has a lot to learn about life on Earth. That’s exactly what this season explores with her character – how she adapts to life there. It’s a self-discovery journey, and that obviously involves some romance. The friendship duo between Lois and Kara is one that really works; it’s just so natural.
While previous seasons relied heavily on the dynamic of this trio, season 3 settles into a new balance with Kara on the team. It went on that path when she debuted in season two, and now we see its continuation. When she arrived, it always made sense that in the long term, she would be an integral part of the team. The cousin dynamic between Kara and Clark is such an important bond. But it’s also just as compelling to see the friendship she has with the other two characters.
My Adventures with Superman has a nice balance between character development, character bonding, and action. Despite the high stakes, it doesn’t forget to give the characters time to breathe and focus on developing them while having a bit of fun along the way. The light humor is still very much present. There’s actually an episode where the characters have to play games while another storyline tackles dating. This series can be so many things at once.

OPENING & END CREDITS
Yes, the intro and end credits are still there for the third season with the same song tracks. It’s worth mentioning every season because we don’t often see that in American series. On top of that, the Japanese anime inspiration is fully appreciated. The intro follows the same pattern as the previous two seasons, but has been updated with the relevant beats for this season. At the same time, the end credits counterbalance the energetic intro with something sweeter, a common feature in Japanese anime. It’s more in line with what was done in the first season than the end credits of the second. And in case anyone needs a reminder, the intro song is “Up and Away” (My Adventures With Superman theme), performed by Kyle Troop and The Heretics.

VERDICT
My Adventures with Superman is finally back. It delivers an entertaining new season with exciting surprises, high stakes, and epic fights, taking inspiration from shonen anime. With season 3, Superman faces his greatest challenge yet, and Supergirl gets a more prominent role, joining the main trio for their adventures. It delivers on all fronts; there’s drama, romance, humor, and action.
