Poison Ivy, The Riddler, and The Joker emerge from the shadows to challenge the Dark Knight in the first trailer for Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2.
Holy new trailer, Batman! After yesterday’s new poster reveal, Prime Video has finally unveiled the first trailer for Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2. This long-awaited second season, a product of the collaborative genius of J.J. Abrams, Bruce Timm, Matt Reeves, and James Tucker, has generated a ton of buzz. Building on the anticipation from the previous season, the studio released a stunning new trailer that immerses viewers in the retro charm of 1940s Gotham.
The latest incarnation of the Dark Knight, voiced by Hamish Linklater, is once again patrolling Gotham’s shadowy streets, waging an unrelenting war on the city’s criminal underworld. But, as is often the case in DC’s iconic mythology, Batman’s crusade has drawn the attention of an even more dangerous class of adversaries.
Season 2 brings together an impressive rogues’ gallery, including The Riddler, Poison Ivy, Man-Bat, and Firefly, each ready to test the Caped Crusader in new and deadly ways. Looming over them all, however, is The Joker, whose twisted games and razor-sharp intellect suggest he’ll be Batman’s greatest challenge yet. Check out the first trailer below.
THE CAST
In the upcoming series, Hamish Linklater from Midnight Mass will be taking on the role of Batman, while Christina Ricci, known for her role as Wednesday, will be portraying Catwoman. Jamie Chung, famous for her role in Sucker Punch, is set to play Harley Quinn, and Diedrich Bader from Batman: The Brave and the Bold will be portraying Harvey Dent. More roles are yet to be announced for McKenna Grace, Reid Scott, Dane Donohue, Gary Anthony Williams, Jason Watkins, John Dimaggio, Krystal Joy Brown, Michelle C. Bonilla, Eric Morgan Stuart, Tom Kenny, and Minnie Driver.
SYNOPSIS
Welcome to Gotham City, where the corrupt outnumber the good, criminals run rampant, and law-abiding citizens live in a constant state of fear. Forged in the fire of tragedy, wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne becomes something both more and less than human—the BATMAN. His one-man crusade for justice attracts unexpected allies within the GCPD and City Hall, but his heroic actions spawn deadly, unforeseen ramifications.
1940s DARK KNIGHT
We had a blast with the first season of the hit series, enjoying every minute of its stylish retro 1940s setting. In my four-star review, I wrote: “BATMAN CAPED CRUSADER is a stunning continuation of the legacy left by BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES. Bruce Timm has once again captured the essence of the Dark Knight and delivered a fresh yet nostalgically familiar take on the iconic character. While the series may lack a heroic Batman theme, it more than makes up for it with its iconic tone, distinctive style, and compelling narratives. Despite minor flaws, this new series is a must-watch slice of DC brilliance.” Read my full review here.
With the addition of a film noir visual style, fans can look forward to an exceptional series when it returns to Prime Video this summer.
Batman: Caped Crusader returns to Prime Video on July 31.
