Academy Award winner Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård lead the cast in Wicker. The film is set to hit UK and Irish cinemas in October.
Are you ready for Wicker? An audacious comedic fable about sex, marriage, and the absurdities of social convention, the film tells the wholly original love story of an ostracized fisherwoman (Olivia Colman). She asks the local basketmaker (Peter Dinklage) to create a husband for her. When her wicker husband (Alexander Skarsgård) proves more spectacular than she ever imagined, his soulful spirit and unique prowess awaken something inside her. As a result, this sets off a wave of jealousy, fascination, and upheaval. It threatens the very fabric of village life.
ADAPTED FROM THE ACCLAIMED SHORT STORY
Adapted by Wilson and Fischer (SAVE YOURSELVES!) from Ursula Wills’ acclaimed short story “The Wicker Husband,” WICKER shines through exceptional craftsmanship. This includes cinematography by Academy Award winner Lol Crawley (THE BRUTALIST) and production design by Art Directors Guild Award winner Renátó Cseh (POOR THINGS). The costumes were designed by András Dániel Tóth and Attila Godena-Juhász. Meanwhile, there is also a bold score by Anna Meredith (EIGHTH GRADE). Alexander Skarsgård’s title character comes to life through a fully practical suit. This suit was designed by Joe Dunckley and the acclaimed Wētā Workshop. Notably, they have gained recognition for their work on AVATAR and THE LORD OF THE RINGS.
