Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water. Prime Video has shared the first trailer for Jeff Wadlow’s upcoming shark thriller, The Devil’s Mouth. The long-gestating underwater horror has been moving along the assembly line at Lionsgate for a while now. Today, Amazon MGM Studios has set an official release date of July 29 for its Prime Video debut.
The shark thriller stars Kathryn Newton as part of a group of friends who venture into The Devil’s Mouth, a labyrinth of underwater caves off the coast of Thailand. What begins as an exciting dive soon turns into a nightmare. The group becomes disoriented and trapped beneath the surface.
As panic sets in and their chances of escape dwindle, they discover they’re not alone. Stalked by a relentless Bull Shark in the pitch-black depths, the friends are thrust into a desperate fight for survival against one of nature’s most formidable predators. Sounds like a banger, right? Don’t take my word for it, swim down to the trailer and hit play!
SYNOPSIS
Five friends set out on one last adventure along Thailand’s stunning coast,
Deep inside the labyrinth of narrow waterways, their journey takes a terrifying turn when they discover that a freak storm the week before flooded the caves with sea life. The creatures died in the fresh water, but something survived… and it’s hunting them now— fast, silent, and deadly. Every corridor they round is overflowing with anxiety, and every wrong turn becomes a deadly encounter.
As panic spreads and their sense of direction slips away, the group begins to fracture. Trust erodes, fear takes over, and survival becomes a savage game. In the suffocating darkness, every choice could be their last as they learn that to make it out alive, sacrifices must be made.

RELEASE
We love a good shark thriller here at Future of the Force. But sadly, you can count the good ones on one hand. Aside from Jaws, Deep Blue Sea, The Shallows, The MEG, and 47 Meters Down, the majority of shark movies are shameful cash grabs. I’m looking at you, Sharknado! But thankfully, Jeff Wadlow seems to be ducking the trend here.
The Devil’s Mouth looks like a riveting thriller that should keep audiences on the edge of their seats for the entire runtime. With Bear McCreary on hand to compose the score, the star power of Kathryn Newton leading the film, and the visual flair of Jeff Wadlow behind the camera, the film looks like the perfect late-summer banger. Bring it on!
The Devil’s Mouth swims onto Prime Video on July 29.
