Ahead of its highly anticipated panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Amazon MGM has unveiled the first poster for Spaceballs: The New One. The long-awaited sequel is finally on the horizon, and with the film taking center stage at SDCC on Friday, July 24, the studio is giving fans an early taste of the madness with a handful of fun reveals.
The newly released poster keeps the franchise’s irreverent humor alive by revisiting one of the original film’s most memorable gags, featuring two Spaceballs troopers once again combing the desert in search of… well, absolutely nothing. It’s a clever callback that longtime fans are sure to appreciate. Check it out below.

“Somehow, Dark Helmet has returned! Forty years after the events of the first Spaceballs, fifty years after the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, and one year after the events of The Devil Wears Prada 2, the galaxy is once again under threat. A threat so evil, so unstoppable, so completely lacking in any original ideas, that it has vowed to bring back the past… every last bit of it.
With Lone Starr in hiding, Queen Vespa on the throne, and the Schwartz stretched thinner than a franchise releasing TV episodes theatrically, the only hope for the galaxy is Vespa’s undisciplined son, Prince Starburst, and a mysterious Palace advisor named Destiny. Together, they must find Lone Starr, Yogurt, and any other iconic legacy characters fans are demanding before they discover the hard way that, while some threats you can fight, the reboot is not one of them. ”

Mel Brooks hasn’t just brought Spaceballs back—he’s loaded the ship with an all-star crew. Spaceballs: The New One boasts a delightfully chaotic mix of returning franchise favorites and scene-stealing newcomers, promising plenty of nostalgia alongside a fresh dose of intergalactic absurdity.
Leading the charge are Rick Moranis, Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman, Anthony Carrigan, George Wyner, Daphne Zuniga, Bill Pullman, and Brooks himself. With that lineup, there’s every reason to believe the Schwartz is in very capable hands.
Behind the camera, Josh Greenbaum directs from a screenplay by Josh Gad, Dan Hernandez, and Benji Samit. Adam Merims, Hernandez, and Samit serve as executive producers, while Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, Brooks, Gad, Greenbaum, and Kevin Salter are producing. Between the talent in front of the camera and the creative team behind it, Spaceballs: The New One looks ready to fire on all ludicrous-speed thrusters.

The first poster is a brilliant callback to one of Spaceballs’ most iconic jokes, but the official synopsis truly steals the show. Packed with razor-sharp digs at Hollywood’s sequel obsession—and Disney’s Star Wars era in particular—it captures the irreverent spirit that made the original such a cult classic. If this is just the appetizer ahead of the film’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, fans lucky enough to be in the room should prepare for a comedy masterclass… and maybe bring a few tissues from laughing too hard.
Whether Spaceballs: The New One can reach the ludicrous heights of its predecessor remains to be seen. Comedy sequels are never an easy mission, especially when the original is so beloved. Still, based on today’s poster and wonderfully self-aware synopsis, my excitement has jumped to ludicrous speed.
