THE BEST TEN ON HOME ENTERTAINMENT
This week, we see two new entries and one re-entry into the positions. We also have a new number one title. What could it be? Eat a mushroom as we say Let’sa Go!
(1) THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie returns to the top of the Official Film Chart this week, climbing two places to reclaim Number 1. Having previously spent two weeks at the summit back in June, the animated family adventure continues its standout home entertainment run. Packed with color, humor, and Nintendo nostalgia, the film sends Mario and friends on a cosmic journey through the stars, proving the beloved gaming franchise remains a major force on screen as well as on consoles.
(2) BACKROOMS
This week’s highest new entry comes from Backrooms, which debuts at Number 2. The sci-fi horror taps into the internet-born nightmare of endless liminal spaces, following its characters into a strange, unsettling world where familiar environments become distorted, empty, and deeply unnerving.
(3) OBSESSION
Obsession continues its strong chart run at Number 3. The supernatural horror centers on desire, fixation, and the darker side of longing, as a young man’s wish for the love of his childhood best friend spirals into something far more dangerous.
(4) THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2
After two weeks at Number 1, The Devil Wears Prada 2 drops to Number 4. The fashion-world sequel returns to the high-pressure world of Runway magazine, bringing sharp wit, ambition, and industry drama back to one of cinema’s most recognizable style universes.
(5) MICHAEL
Michael follows at Number 5, continuing a strong run for the Michael Jackson biopic. The film traces the life and legacy of one of pop’s most influential entertainers, exploring his rise from childhood stardom to global superstardom.
(6) LEE CRONIN’S THE MUMMY
There is further horror momentum this week as Lee Cronin’s The Mummy rises to Number 6. The modern reimagining brings the iconic monster back to screen with a darker edge, continuing the genre filmmaker’s move into another classic horror property.
(7) THE GOOD BOY
The Good Boy also returns to the Top 10, adding another chilling title to this week’s chart. The horror film brings suspense and unease to the line-up, joining a strong run of genre titles finding an audience on home entertainment.
(8) MORTAL KOMBAT II
Action remains firmly represented by Mortal Kombat 2 (2026), which continues its Top 10 run. The sequel brings together fan-favorite fighters, brutal battles, and high-stakes fantasy mythology as the fight for Earthrealm continues.
(9) THE FURIOUS
New at Number 9, The Furious adds more action to the chart this week. The martial arts thriller delivers fast-paced fight sequences and a revenge-driven story, as one man is pushed into a dangerous criminal underworld in search of justice.
(10) THE MAGIC FARAWAY TREE
Rounding out the Top 10 is The Magic Faraway Tree, the family fantasy based on Enid Blyton’s beloved stories. Following a family who discovers an enchanted tree filled with magical lands and eccentric characters, the film continues to bring a nostalgic dose of adventure to the chart.
THIS IS THE WAY!
If none of those tickle your pickle, why not try The Mandalorian And Grogu? The film, the first Star Wars film to hit the big screen in seven years, is now out on PVOD. Pedro Pascal is back in the armor as the title character, and is joined in the film by Sigourney Weaver and, of course, Grogu. Our reviewer, Phil Roberts, had this to say about the film:
“The Mandalorian and Grogu is a truly epic spectacle that, sadly, doesn’t reach the bar set by the Skywalker Saga. With its glorious cinematography, epic scope, and sharp screenplay, the film is a wonderful return to form for the galaxy far, far away. With its wonderful legacy characters and the star power of the criminally underused Sigourney Weaver, the film is a triumphant return. But fans should temper their expectations.
The duo of Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni has delivered a sensationally flawed film that delivers everything a Star Wars story requires to succeed. Just without the grandiose storyline. Pedro Pascal leads the film well, though his screen time is less than Weaver’s. But Embo and Rotta the Hutt threaten to steal the show with their brilliant live-action debuts. The film ultimately delivers a wonderfully fun, light-hearted family adventure that will delight fans of all ages.
Is it the film that catapults Star Wars back to the top of the pop culture tree? Probably not. But in an age where the popularity of the franchise is on the wane, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau have crafted a perfectly worthy side adventure for Mando and his adorable companion. This is the way…to have a blast at the movies!”
