Look out, Fortnite fans, because spooky season is officially creeping into view — and you know what that means… It’s time for Fortnitemares!
With the season of the witch looming on the horizon, Epic Games has unleashed the first official key art for this year’s terrifying celebration, and once again, the island is being invaded by some seriously creepy company. After last year’s event brought Jason Voorhees, Wednesday Addams, Ghostface, and Art the Clown into the Fortnite universe, you could be forgiven for thinking Epic had already emptied the horror cupboard. Think again. Fortnitemares 2026 looks ready to crank the nightmare fuel up another notch, with some of horror’s biggest names seemingly preparing to descend on the island.
From Five Nights at Freddy’s and The Purge to Slender Man and Black Clover, there appears to be something lurking in the shadows for just about every kind of horror fan. But if that isn’t enough to have you checking under the bed, the key art has one particularly wicked surprise waiting for us.

And standing menacingly behind the rest of the gang, complete with his trademark razor-fingered glove, is none other than the legendary Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street. Check out the terrifying key art below!
THE UNHOLY TRINITY
That’s right — Freddy Krueger is finally coming to Fortnite!
And his arrival completes what can only be described as the Unholy Trinity of horror icons, with Freddy joining Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees and Halloween’s Michael Myers on the island. Three legendary slasher icons. One Fortnite island. What could possibly go wrong? Well… considering who we’re dealing with, probably everything.
POSSIBLE ADDITIONS
If Beetlejuice and Freddy Krueger aren’t enough to have you reaching for a cushion to hide behind, Fortnite has teased even more mayhem and potential collaborations lurking in the shadows. From WWE’s Danhausen to a creepy Chucky sidekick, a treasure trove of content is rumored to be on the way this Fortnitemares. But perhaps the most exciting possibility of all is the return of Predator.
The early teasers have already featured the Predator’s unmistakable vocals, along with its iconic targeting system. Put those clues together, and it certainly looks like a new Predator could be stalking the island this Halloween. The only question is: which Predator are we dealing with? Either way, if the galaxy’s ultimate hunter is coming to stalk Fortnitemares, the icons of horror had better watch their backs. Spooky season is officially becoming hunting season!
Bring on the screams! Fortnitemares 2026 officially kicks off on October 1, and Epic Games is wasting no time getting the scares started. The spooky celebrations will launch with a Five Nights at Freddy’s collaboration, bringing Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, and Foxy Outfits to the Fortnite island.
