The first trailer for Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew has emerged from Netflix, offering our first enchanting glimpse at the long-awaited return to C.S. Lewis’ magical world. Written and directed by Greta Gerwig, the filmmaker who dazzled audiences with Barbie, this new fantasy adventure will whisk us back to Narnia long before the events of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The film arrives in February 2027, and if this first look is any indication, Gerwig is ready to cast her own spell!
The whimsical new trailer promises to pull us down a magical rabbit hole and keep us spellbound. Set to Led Zeppelin’s legendary Stairway to Heaven, the footage introduces David McKenna as Digory Kirke and Beatrice Campbell as Polly Plummer, two curious youngsters who stumble upon a mysterious new world after investigating a collection of magical objects hidden in an elaborate attic. Their extraordinary discovery opens the door to wonders beyond their wildest dreams, with Daniel Craig’s peculiar Andrew Ketterley guiding them through this strange new adventure.
But every magical journey has its dangers! Before long, the youngsters cross paths with Emma Mackey’s White Witch, whose rock-opera-inspired antics threaten to cast a sinister spell over the land. CAST & CREATIVES
Greta Gerwig takes the reins of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, directing the fantasy adventure from her own screenplay. Leading the charge are David McKenna, Beatrice Campbell, Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, and Ciarán Hinds, with an equally impressive supporting cast featuring Daniel Craig, Meryl Streep, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Denise Gough, and Susan Wokoma.
Behind the camera, Gerwig has assembled an impressive team of creatives to help bring her magical vision to life. Mark Gordon, Amy Pascal, Vincent Sieber-Smith, and Gerwig serve as producers, while Patricia Whitcher, Racheline Benveniste, Christine Crais, Douglas Gresham, and Melvin Adams, representing the C. S. Lewis Estate, serve as executive producers. Adding another exciting dimension to the production, musical powerhouses Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt will produce the film’s soundtrack.

What a phenomenal first trailer! The world of Narnia is a rich, magic-soaked sandbox just begging to be explored, and if this first look is anything to go by, fans of the franchise are in for an absolute treat when the film hits IMAX on February 11. With Greta Gerwig steering the creative ship and the C. S. Lewis Estate on board, the film looks to be in very capable hands. Add the impressive production values, breathtaking scale, and the unmistakable atmosphere of this iconic magical universe, and we could have a serious contender on our hands.
