Family movie night is heading to our dystopian future when Ridley Scott’s riveting post-apocalyptic thriller, The Dog Stars, heads to digital on 27 October.
Look out, Ridley Scott fans, because after taking audiences on a gripping journey through a world gone to hell, The Dog Stars is finally preparing to fly home on digital! That’s right, Scott’s post-apocalyptic thriller is heading to our living rooms, giving those who missed its big-screen outing another chance to experience this haunting tale of survival.
Despite generating some positive buzz, the futuristic thriller starring Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, and Margaret Qualley struggled to make its mark at the box office. With a worldwide haul of around $39 million against a reported production budget of $70 million to $110 million, the film has some serious ground to make up. Now, 20th Century Studios will be hoping its digital debut helps this post-apocalyptic adventure find the audience it deserves.
Based on Peter Heller’s acclaimed bestselling novel, Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars arrives on premium digital platforms on 27 October, including Amazon Prime Video, Sky Store, and Apple TV. But that’s not all, because this home-entertainment release comes loaded with special features to sink our teeth into! Alongside a behind-the-scenes “Making Of” documentary, viewers can dig into a treasure trove of deleted scenes and other bonus goodies. So, if you’re looking for something gripping to get stuck into as the autumn nights draw in, this could be just the ticket.

REVIEW
As mentioned above, we had an absolute blast with the film on its initial run. We were lucky enough to attend the world premiere in London, and despite its flaws, we enjoyed the post-apocalyptic drama. In my FOUR STAR review, I said, “Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars is a surprisingly humble and emotionally weighted change of pace for the director. With its impressive cinematography, endless desolation, and magnetic performances from Jacob Elordi and Josh Brolin, it’s an impressive post-apocalyptic ride. Aside from a few minor deviations from Peter Heller’s source material, Scott delivers the kind of immersive cinematic experience we’ve come to expect from him, while adding far more heart than I anticipated.” Read my full review here.
