The Star Wars director offers his personal thanks for his time in the desert hotspot…
With filming on Star Wars: Episode IX nearing completion director J.J. Abrams has offered his personal thanks to the Jordanian The Royal Film Commission for their incredible hospitality.
Little is known about the level of production undertaken on set but Abrams was eager to extend his gratitude for his time shooting in what has become a Hollywood hotspot in recent years.
“Wadi Rum is breathtakingly beautiful and the perfect location for our film. I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to shoot in Jordan. Between the warm welcome from the government and the dedication and hard work of the local film professionals, we couldn’t have had a better experience. We are enormously grateful. “
Eager to reinforce her directors’ comments, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy added:
“I also want to thank the Royal Film Commission Jordan, and the Army, whose tremendous support has been invaluable, and helped make this shoot possible.”
With production on Episode IX well underway rumours have begun to surface suggesting a teaser trailer is imminent. Whether there is any substance to these rumours remains to be seen, but with so many exotic locations already frequented J.J Abrams’ blockbuster is set to be one of the most vibrant in the saga to date.
Star Wars: Episode IX is set for release in December 2019
