Lucasfilm has officially announced the cast of Star Wars: The Mandalorian.
After months of speculation, Lucasfilm has finally revealed the full cast list for Jon Favreau’s upcoming Star Wars live-action TV series set to debut on the new Disney+ streaming service in late 2019. As previously reported, Pedro Pascal will lead the series in the role of the Mandalorian gunfighter. Joining him will be Gina Carano from Deadpool, Giancarlo Esposito from Breaking Bad, Emily Swallow from Supernatural, Carl Weathers from Rocky/Predator, Omid Abtahi from American Gods, Werner Herzog from Grizzly Man, and screen legend Nick Nolte.
The Mandalorian has been written by Jon Favreau who also serves as executive producer, with Lucasfilm legend Dave Filoni directing the inaugural episode. Filoni, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson will also serve as executive producers, with Karen Gilchrist on as a co-executive producer. Jessica Jones’ Deborah Chow, Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi, and Dope’s Rick Famuyiwa will also be directing episodes, along with Solemates‘ Bryce Dallas Howard.
The plot of The Mandalorian follows the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, a new warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order.
With Favreau digging into the archives of the Star Wars universe and reviving classic elements from the original trilogy, we are sure to be in for a rollercoaster ride of Star Wars awesomeness when The Mandalorian arrives on our screens next year.
