No pardon necessary. The Punisher returns to Netflix this month!
Earlier this week Netflix launched the first teaser for the new season of The Punisher, and now just days later, the streaming giant has graced us with the announcement of the official release date of January 18.
Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle will shun a presidential pardon to continue his reign of vigilante justice, and with this date announcement comes a new teaser for the show as well as a few new awesome images from season two.
Along with this awesomely intense trailer, Netflix has revealed the official plot synopsis, teasing a new adventure that will force him to embrace the role of The Punisher:
Former marine-turned-vigilante Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) has been living a quiet life on the road until he suddenly becomes embroiled in the attempted murder of a young girl (Giorgia Whigham). As he is drawn into the mystery surrounding her and those in pursuit of the information she holds, Castle attracts a new target on his back as new and old enemies force him to confront whether he should accept his destiny and embrace a life as The Punisher
If that isn’t enough to super-charge your thirst for vigilante justice, check out these awesome release images featuring Frank Castle and his arch-nemesis Billy Russo.
As exciting as this news is, The Punisher‘s second season arrives amidst the cancellation of Netflix’s other Marvel properties including Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Daredevil. With only The Punisher and Jessica Jones spared from the chopping block, it seems inevitable that they will follow suit once their current seasons come to a close.
Until then, The Punisher Season 2 arrives on Netflix from January 18th.
