Thomas takes his first steps into a larger world with the incredible Sixth Scale General Leia Organa Figure by Hot Toys
In tribute of Carrie Fisher’s last appearance as Leia in the epic Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Sideshow, and Hot Toys have introduced the sixth scale Star Wars collectable of Leia Organa from the film! The highly-accurate collectable figure is sophisticatedly crafted based on Leia Organa’s appearance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It features a newly developed head sculpt with wonderful likeness, meticulously tailored elegant outfit, a blaster, and a specially designed character theme figure stand!
It’s been a while since I first thought about starting to buy Hot Toys figures. The main reason I didn’t was the price, they’re really expensive, they retail for as much as 250€, and more for some characters. But I finally took my first steps into this larger collecting world and I didn’t buy one…but three Hot Toys figures, the Original trio in their Sequel appearance – Leia Organa (The Last Jedi), Han Solo (The Force Awakens) and Luke Skywalker (The Last Jedi) (Deluxe Version). I’ll be reviewing all three here so let’s start with our favorite Princess – Leia!
The package is a big box with pictures of the figure to present the product. And everything inside is designed to protect the figure so it can arrive at the collector without any damage. It’s great packaging and by the look of it, you know you have bought something truly special.
To say I’m impressed by the quality of the Hot Toys figures is an understatement, it’s more than that, way more! I was in awe at how good these figures are! They totally nailed it with Leia, the face sculpt is 100%, Carrie Fisher. It’s very highly detailed. There’s no digital print technology used here, it’s all perfectly hand-painted. I’ve never seen this level of detail on a figure and when you look at the eyes, it almost feels alive (and that’s creepy in a way!), this just proves how amazing this figure is!
As for the costume, they used fabric only and chose a fabric that mimics the garments used for Leia’s costume in the movie. it’s the same texture, the same colors. You can probably guess it took a lot of time to do this!
Leia comes with very few accessories – her blaster pistol, the S-thread transmitter bracelet, 3 additional interchangeable hands (so that’s 5 hands in total), two hand joints replacements and a stand. That’s not a lot of accessories for a superior collectable but I don’t see what else they could have added with the figure. Speaking of the hands, they’re also extremely detailed, up to the point where you can see the veins! She has her two rings, both screen accurate. With one of the interchangeable hands, you can recreate the famous scene when she uses the Force during The Last Jedi to glide through space to return to the Raddus! Another hand can be used to recreate the scene at the beginning of the movie when she’s thoughtful during the Raddus’s journey through hyperspace, just after they escaped the First Order on D’Qar.
I had some of the 12inch Sideshow Toy that were released years ago, they were some really good figures and definitely not the same price, but Hot Toys is on another level. They are worth every penny I paid for them! And I’ll be buying more of these in the future (I actually already have as I preordered the Deluxe Version of Han Solo from Solo A Star Wars Story.)
If you’re looking for the ultimate Leia Organa action figure from the Sequel trilogy, this is one for you. And in general, I’d say, if you want a perfect representation of a character then go with Hot Toys but be careful not to get addicted because it’s your wallet that will cry!
