Annlyel trawls through the new Avengers Endgame trailer to select her top moments from what is set to be another mega-blockbuster for Marvel Studios.
The second Avengers: Endgame trailer was released and the internet practically exploded with surprised fans who had no idea this trailer was dropping so soon after Captain Marvel‘s release. What I enjoyed the most about the trailer was definitely its attention to secrecy. No shot revealed too much, everything was very basic and secretive, and yet this trailer felt powerful. Meaningful. Impactful.
These heroes have been beaten down but they are going to give Thanos a taste of his own medicine and it’s going to be awesome! I loved seeing the heroes having such a hard time in Infinity War but now I want to see them return with a bang, ready to give Thanos the fight of his life. Of course, there were plenty of heartwarming moments in the trailer but there were four moments that truly stood out.
1. Thor and Carol’s Meeting
This is clearly one of the greatest moments in the trailer. I figured because Captain Marvel is in theaters, this trailer would incorporate her in some capacity but this was absolutely perfect. Watching Thor and Carol, the two strongest Avengers, sizing each other up was so fantastic. I especially loved how Carol just looked at him and wasn’t impressed at all. Oh please let them go tag-team on Thanos. That would be amazing.
2. The Avengers are United
The Avengers have been torn apart since Captain America: Civil War and that’s what makes the end of the trailer where it shows The Avengers in the red-and-white space suits so heartening. To see all of these characters finally back together again is fantastic and while we still haven’t seen it yet I can’t wait to see the reunion between Steve and Tony. Oh my goodness, it’s going to be so emotional.
3. Hawkeye and Black Widow Together Again
We saw in the first teaser that Hawkeye and Black Widow would be together again as allies but their close friendship in this trailer was so beautiful to observe. For Clint, he has had to deal with this terrible tragedy but Natasha is there for him. Their relationship is almost like as if they were brother and sister and it truly is beautiful. Ugh, if Hawkeye or Black Widow dies I am probably going to cry my eyes out.
4. “Whatever It Takes.”
Voiceovers can help give a trailer its pizzazz, the punch in the gut that leaves you covered in goosebumps and beaming with happiness. Hearing Hawkeye, Black Widow, Captain America, and Iron Man all saying “Whatever it takes” through the last half of the trailer was so awesome and I honestly am getting so PUMPED for this movie. Go, Avengers!
5. The Flashback Sequences
It’s very clear that these characters’ stories have been built over many years and through many movies. I loved that in the first section of the trailer we got to see Tony Stark dealing with the complications of his first suit in Iron Man and, now years later, we still him in this desperate situation in space. After that, we see Captain America from the days where he couldn’t even qualify in being a soldier in Captain America: The First Avenger and now he’s dealing with an even greater conundrum; the deaths of half of all people in the galaxy.
Then we see Hawkeye teaching his daughter how to shoot a bow, which is so exciting but then it flashes forward to him clearly devastated because the family that he loves so much has turned to ash. And then last but not least we see Thor with his father before we jump forward to the events of Infinity War when he watched all of these characters die before his very eyes. And remember, he was the one who threw the axe and nearly killed Thanos. If he had, in Thanos’s words, “aimed for the head” the events of Endgame would not be happening. That must place a terrible weight on his shoulders.
Honestly, by the time it gets to Thor’s flashback sequence I am overwhelmed by emotion. I just love that these movies have come full circle to this finale and it’s just so amazing.
So, yeah these were the moments that stood out the most to me in the trailer. Avengers: Infinity War was way better than I could’ve possibly imagined and judging from this trailer Endgame is going to blow my socks off as well and I am eagerly counting down the days until April 26.
