With Ultron on the loose Thomas brings in the newly reissued Iron Man MK-45 from Tamashii Nations’ S.H. Figuarts Collection
The Iron Man MK-XLV is another incarnation of Tony Stark’s famous armour to be reissued to commemorate the release of Avengers: Endgame and thankfully, it’s not a repack. The figure has been given some cool new packaging and has had the benefit of an all-new paint job!
This one comes with 8 interchangeable hands, 2 reactor feet effects, 4 hand effects. Like for the MK-XLIII effects, I have the same complaint, it feels too much Anime and not realistic enough.
The red color here feels metallic, it’s wonderful! It feels even better than on the MK-XLIII, probably because there’s a lot more red on this one! The golden color also has this metallic feel. The feet are made of metal, so you can see that the figure is heavy. And that is why, a base stand would have been nice because when you try flying poses, the MAFEX base stands are not heavy enough to hold the figure properly, it works but it’s not without troubles.
This figure has 28 points of articulation, you can get the best action poses with this one!
I tried to put the Tony Stark head on this one too, and the peg is too big for the head but if you just want to put the head on the neck for toy photography, it definitely does the trick.
In terms of size, it’s a lot smaller than the Marvel Legends Iron Man figures. There’s a much bigger size difference with the Marvel Legends than with the Black Series figures.
If you’re wondering which brand you need to go with for the ultimate Iron Man figure, it’s definitely S.H. Figuarts!
