Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black are back in the game for the cool new trailer for Jumanji 2
When Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle arrived to grace our screens, it garnered more critical and commercial acclaim than I gave it credit for. For me, the movie was just another easily forgettable dumb blockbuster packed full of over-embellished and needless set pieces designed to perpetuate Johnson’s charisma, spark Hart and Black’s comedic timing and embellish Karen Gillan’s fiery Scottish awesomeness.
The movie was good…but not great and I expected it to fade away into obscurity and be discarded to languish in the bargain bins of the world. In the years since I can honestly say that I have warmed to the movie and can now appreciate it for what it is. Moreover, the thought of a potential sequel is a welcome prospect.
Enter Sony Pictures.
Today, Sony has unveiled the thrilling new trailer for Jumanji: The Next Level. The movie features the returning stars from the first outing Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart and Jack Black alongside the original cast of youngsters who had the misfortune of getting sucked into the game. Joining them on their new adventure are Hollywood legends Danny DeVito and Danny Glover.
Much in the same vein as the original, the youngsters are once again sucked into the magical world of Jumanji, however, the team soon discovers that the roles have been turned on their head. DeVito has been transferred into Johnson’s Bravestone, and Glover has become Hart’s “Mouse” Finbar.
As if you needed reminding, here’s the plot:
“In Jumanji: The Next Level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored, from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the world’s most dangerous game.”
After growing to appreciate the first outing, I can honestly say I’m looking forward to pressing play on Jumanji: The Next Level. The random assignment of our larger than life game heroes is a great twist from the writing team and when combined with the abundance of rampaging creatures The Next Level is definitely a movie worth getting excited for.
I’ll eat my humble pie now!
Jumanji: The Next Level hits cinemas on December 13th
