Review:
Empire Strikes Back is my least favorite Star Wars movie but it features my favorite Darth Vader outfit. In each movie, there were subtle changes to his outfit and his helmet like for example the colors of the lights on his belt or on his chest … So obviously, I had to take this version of the character in the Hot Toys format.
As usual with HT, you can expect the best from them and they delivered! The LED light-up parts of his outfit are simply amazing, it really is like in the movie! The problem is to put in the batteries, the screws were so tight that it took me a long time to install them. They got every single detail correct, even the small text written on his chest, for the price you pay it is normal!
Hot Toys used different types of fabric for the individual sections of Vader’s outfit. For the cape and kama, they used two different types of fabric one for the outfit and one for the inside and sewed the two together so it gives some density to the cape and it is simply majestic! I really loved that they used shiny plastic for the helmet so that things around him can reflect on it, pretty much like in the movie. Hot Toys does the very best to keep everything accurate.
This figure comes with over 30 points of articulation.
As usual with lightsaber users, it comes with a LED light-up lightsaber arm, it’s one of my favorite features on their figures! The lightsaber can be attached to his belt, it’s on the back so when you look at him from the front you can’t see it with the cape. The helmet is not entirely removable, only the first part to recreate the scene from the movie in his chambers. Even that little part of the back of Vader’s head is meticulously sculpted.
The Bespin stand base also includes LED light-up parts, you need three batteries that are not included, unlike batteries for the other light-up features. That stand is huge compared to the others and it is carefully sculpted.

Final Thoughts:
Darth Vader is one of the very best Hot Toys figures with so many light-up options, it is truly impressive!
