Joaquin Phoenix’s Tragic Clown Prince Of Crime Raises the Laughing Stocks
When Warner Bros announced plans to produce an all-new DC movie based on Gotham’s notorious clown prince of crime, I was elated. The Joker is regarded as the ultimate Batman villain and his rise to prominence has been catalogued many times via many mediums. Whether via comic book, graphic novel, or the wonderful Batman: The Animated Series, his clown capers have captivated the world and his legions are devoted fans can never get enough of his hilariously sinister antics.
The previous trailer for Joaquin Phoenix’s take on the character was dark and gritty and but it carried a tragic underdone that betrayed the tragedy of Arthur Fleck’s existence before he transformed into the supercriminal we know and love.
With the countdown on to the release of Todd Phillips’ movie, Warner Bros are stepping up the advertising campaign with an all-new trailer that is sure to stimulate the laughing stocks. The new trailer reveals more of Arthur Fleck’s life before adopting the Joker persona but gives us an even better look at Gotham’s notorious clown prince of crime. Enjoy:
This new trailer is magnificent. The Joker is my ultimate Batman villain and despite his take on the character not quite resonating with me on a personal level…(yet), I am more than ready to enter the bizarre psyche of Gotham’s ultimate supervillain.
Joker follows the failed comedian Arthur Fleck who encounters violent thugs while wandering the streets of Gotham City dressed as a clown. Disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow descent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as The Joker.
And check out the chilling new posters here:
Joining Joaquin Phoenix in Gotham City are Robert De Niro as a talk show host; Frances Conroy as Arthur’s mother, Marc Maron as an agent; Brett Cullen as wealthy mayoral candidate Thomas Wayne, father of future Batman Bruce Wayne; and Zazie Beetz as a single mother who catches Arthur’s attention.
Joker raises the laughing stocks from October 4th.
