Data, Riker and Troi all make a welcome return ahead of the series debut on Amazon Prime this January
The final frontier is closer than we think.
At NYCC this past weekend, Star Trek fans young and old were treated to the all-new trailer for the upcoming series, Star Trek: Picard. The return of Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard has been at the forefront of minds since the legendary actor took to the stage to announce his unlikely return to the captain’s chair, and the previous trailer hinted at the glorious spectacle that awaits us when the series hits Amazon Prime in the new year.
However, the previous trailer pales in comparison to the all-new NYCC trailer which reveals more of the adventure Picard is set to undertake as well as the triumphant return of Star Trek: The Next Generation legends Data, William T. Riker and Deanna Troi. If that wasn’t enough to send us into exhilaration, the trailer also shows more of Jeri Ryan’s Seven of Nine boasting two phaser rifles and a series of space battles featuring a vintage Romulan Warbird last seen in Star Trek: The Original Series.
Old friends and new alike come together for this special look at the Star Trek Universe’s newest addition, the much-anticipated series. So without further ado, let’s check out the stunning new trailer.
Star Trek: Picard will premiere on January 23 on CBS All Access in the United States, in Canada on Bell Media’s CTV Sci-Fi Channel & OTT service Crave, and on January 24 on Amazon Prime in more than 200 countries and territories.
I don’t know about you, but when the camera revealed the silhouette of William T. Riker and the echoes of the Star Trek theme began to emerge, a lump quickly formed in my throat. I am delighted to see these legends of Star Trek lore return to the franchise and build upon their already wonderful legacies.
The team behind Star Trek: Picard have done a wonderful job in crafting what appears to be a series of legitimate substance, with a methodical and noteworthy storyline. And with the return of some of Star Trek TNG‘s most cherished characters, this series is a shoo-in to shoot straight to the top of every Trekkies watch list.
Star Trek: Picard will premiere on January 23 on CBS All Access in the United States and on January 24 on Amazon Prime in the UK.
