After a 30 year absence, the Ghostbusters are back to save the world in Ghostbusters: Afterlife
They are the best. They are the beautiful. They are the only … Ghostbusters. AND THEY’RE BACK!
Aside from the derided reboot of 2016, the treasured Ghostbusters mythology has remained dormant since 1989 when Ivan Reitman’s Ghostbusters II played to packed multiplexes around the world. The amazing cartoon series The Real Ghostbusters worked wonders to prolong the franchise and became as revered as its big-screen predecessors but sadly, the superstars of the supernatural were eventually put back on the shelf. In the years that followed, fans have been pleading for a legitimate sequel to the original movies, but despite several close calls those please have gone unanswered.
Until now.
Enter Jason Reitman.
The world was left in a state of shock back in January when it was announced that the writer/director and son of the original director was set to bring A GENUINE SEQUEL to the big screen in 2020. And now, after all the casting rumours and with the hopes and dreams of a generation waiting to be appeased … THE TRAILER IS FINALLY HERE! So, without further ado, climb aboard Ecto-1 and strap on your proton packs for this awesome first look:
As if the trailer isn’t enough to have us drooling like a Terror Dog, Sony has unveiled the first poster which you can see below:
Holy s***. As a Ghostbusters mega fan, I am delighted with this incredible new trailer. Just the idea of having the original Ghostbusters back in action is a reason enough to cheer from the rooftops but to actually see it come to fruition is something truly magical. Jason Reitman appears to have assembled a fantastic cast packed full of stars of the future, all of who could carry the franchise onto even greater heights.

The tragic loss of Ghostbusters co-creator Harold Ramis has had an obvious effect on the screenplay prompting a passing of the torch storyline, but from the looks of this incredible trailer, Jason Reitman has done a bang-up job in producing a heartfelt sequel that will pay tribute to our missing Ghostbuster while upholding the traditions of the series.
Bring it on … I ain’t afraid of no ghosts!
Ghostbusters Afterlife starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts will be ready to believe you on July 10th, 2020.
