Jon Favreau confirms season two release date and unveils a familiar face from the Original Trilogy

Just hours after the inaugural season of The Mandalorian came to its gripping climax, Jon Favreau has taken to social media to reveal when we can get our first look at Season 2.

The events of season one have been heralded as the stuff of Star Wars legend amongst the fan base which appears to be unified for the first time since Disney bought Lucasfilm from George Lucas. And Jon Favreau appears to be going all out to include more familiar faces and even more original trilogy nostalgia in season two.

Earlier today Favreau posted this glorious image of a half-naked Gamorrean Guard, the green alien pig guards from Jabba The Hutt’s palace in Return Of The Jedi. Check it out:

I don’t know about you, but this is music to my ears. The debut season of The Mandalorian was a glorious hark back to the very best the saga has to offer and demonstrates what the franchise is truly capable of once freed from the shackles of the Skywalker saga.

The future of the franchise has found its perfect custodians in Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni and long may their mastery reign.
