Matt Reeves confirms that Colin Farrell will be his Penguin for The Batman
Matt Reeves is putting together one hell of a cast list for his upcoming noir detective Batman adventure. In recent months, the director has cast Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Bruce Wayne’s faithful butler Alfred Pennyworth and most recently, John Turturro joined the cast as Gotham City crimelord Carmine Falcone. And today, we can add another name to the glittering list of all-stars.
After months of speculation linking him to the role, Colin Farrell has been confirmed to be joining the cast of The Batman Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin. As has been the case with every member of his growing cast, Reeves took to social media to confirm Farrell’s appointment. Check it out:

Personally, I would have never pegged Farrell for the role of Oswald Cobblepot, and yet the actor will almost certainly bring a wealth of talent to the role. Furthermore, this will mark the first comic book role the actor has taken since his portrayal of Bullseye in the divisive big-screen version of Daredevil. Farrell has been linked with the role for quite some time, but the rumour mill had lessened of late.
In addition to his fabulous cast list for The Batman, Reeves has appointed another long-time collaborator in Michael Giacchino to compose the score for the movie. Giacchino has become a top-tier composer in recent years with a string of high profile soundtracks for Jurassic World, Spider-Man, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Up, Star Trek and Coco to name but a few, and will now bring his unswerving talent to bear on Gotham’s greatest detective.
Filming is already well underway in the UK and set pictures are already creeping onto social media. You can check them out below:
