The original Kenner Real Ghostbusters action figures of the 1980s will be exclusively available at Walmart later this year.
Every kid of the eighties loved Ghostbusters. Simple fact. It was a cult phenomenon. Not only was it the coolest movie of a generation, but it had a hit song and a cartoon spin-off that continued the ghostbusting adventures on a week by week basis.
‘The Real Ghostbusters‘ became an instant hit the world over. Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Winston Zeddemore and Egon Spengler all returned to save New York from more gruesome apparitions and manning the famous firehouse was Janine and everybody’s favorite ghost, Slimer. Over the course of its five-year run, the show became so successful that it launched its own action figure line. Every character from the show was lovingly recreated in plastic, even the iconic Stay Puft Marshmallow man got in on the action after fun outings in episodes “Cry Uncle” and “Revenge of Murray the Mantis”.
With Hasbro now taking over the licence to produce action figure for the Ghostbusters franchise fans had high hopes going into Toy Fair New York 2020 – and we were not disappointed. Alongside an all-new adult collectors series named “The Plasma Series” Hasbro is turning back the clock and has announced plans to re-release the original ‘The Real Ghostbusters‘ action figure line later this year.
As of press time, only six characters have been announced. The classic Ghostbusters quartet, Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, Winston Zeddemore and Egon Spengler will all return alongside Slimer and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

The figures will be available exclusively at Walmart this Spring for $14.99.
Okay, be honest. Whose inner eighties brat just passed out? Mine did! Thankfully, being the OCD collector that I am, I still own my original line of figures from ‘The Real Ghostbusters‘ but that isn’t going to stop me from running out and grabbing these guys. For nostalgia alone, they will be well worth shelling out for and will build the hype for what is sure to be a shoo-in for my top film of the year in Ghostbusters Afterlife.
