Captain-Rex-in-The-Mandalorian-Season2

Rumors suggest the Star Wars legend will be suiting up as both Boba Fett and Captain Rex!

Just days after news emerged that Star Wars icon Temuera Morrison was set to appear in The Mandalorian Season Two as legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett, rumors are surfacing insinuating that the actor may be pulling double duty and slipping into the iconic armor of Clone Captain Rex.

These unconfirmed rumors are surfacing from numerous sources, however, with Dave Filoni having directed at least one episode from the hotly-anticipated second series anything is conceivable. The visionary director has added a banner image to his official Twitter account featuring concept art from Season Two depicting both Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex. You can see the image below:

Now, whether or not these whispers from the Force actually hold any water, or whether Filoni’s magnificent artwork connects to the events of Season 2 remains to be seen. However, with Rosario Dawson bringing the first-ever live-action incarnation of Ahsoka Tano to the screen the prospect of Rex appearing alongside her is tantalizingly real. Following their interactions in both The Clone Wars and Rebels the duo effectively comes as a package deal, and with Temuera Morrison already on hand, It wouldn’t be that much of a stretch for him to slip into the iconic 501st armor.

Now, until these rumors are confirmed by any official source I’d urge you to take them with a very BIG pinch of salt, but if they are proven to have any validity then season two of the hit series may even eclipse the brilliance of its predecessor.

Personally, I’d love to see Temuera Morrison suit up as both characters. Being a lifelong Boba Fett fan and with Captain Rex rivaling Commander Cody for the title of my all-time favorite clone trooper the possibility of having both characters appear in The Mandalorian Season 2 would be a dream come true – one that I had never thought possible. Jon Favreau managed to capture lightning in a bottle with his spectacular debut season of The Mandalorian, and if the rumors are true, Star Wars fans will have plenty to cheer about when Season 2 debuts on Disney Plus this October.

What a wonderful time to be a Star Wars fan. Keep it tuned to The Future of the Force for the most accurate information as it happens.
