Life finds a way – More Jurassic Park movies are in the pipeline!

Fans of the Jurassic Park franchise are in for a surprise. For the past few years, we have all been operating under the assumption that Jurassic World: Dominion was being earmarked as the final curtain for the saga which began back in 1993. But according to franchise producer Frank Marshall, the Jurassic franchise is alive and well and will continue to reign over the box office for some time yet.

During an interview with Collider, Marshall touched upon the end of the Jurassic World Trilogy and insisted that Dominion is not being planned as the conclusion of the franchise. He said “It’s the start of a new era,” after a definite “no” when asked if Dominion was the end of the road to the beloved franchise. “The dinosaurs are now on the mainland amongst us, and they will be for quite some time” he continued.

Marshall was referring to the finale of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom when a plethora of dinosaurs was unleashed to run rampant on the world. The final images from the movie revealed dinos like the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex and “Blue” the Velociraptor encroaching on densely populated areas of suburbia. The plot of Dominion will explore the struggles of dinosaurs and man thrown back into the mix together – a terrifying possibility theorized by Alan Grant in the original Jurassic Park.

Jurassic World: Dominion once again sees Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return to the prehistoric frontline alongside franchise veterans Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum. Given Marshall’s comments, Dominion may well serve as the final outing for Owen, Claire, Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm in a passing of the torch scenario designed to give way to new adventures with a new cast. Perhaps a broad story of humanity’s struggle to live side by side by history’s top predators – an era when people once again become part of the food chain? Sounds cool right?

In either case, first, we have the small matter of Dominion to look forward to.  Production was forced to shut down once the UK went into enforced lockdown following the outbreak of COVID-19 – but with restrictions finally being eased filming could restart in a matter of weeks. This is great news if we hope to be sat in multiplexes come June 2021 to witness dinosaurs ruling the earth once again!

Life finds a way – and with it comes a bold new chapter in Jurassic Park history.

Jurassic World: Dominion is scheduled to hit screens on June 11, 2021.
