It’s time to report some Cassian Andor casting news. Cassian said we had to!
Deadline is reporting that Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim: Uprising) has been cast alongside Diego Luna in the upcoming Star Wars Cassian Andor Disney+ series. The size of the role has yet to be confirmed, though Deadline’s report suggests that it will be a leading role. Denise Gough, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, and Kyle Soller are also on board.
Tony Gilroy, co-writer of Rogue One, is set to write the pilot for the series in addition to directing multiple episodes with Stephen Schiff attached as showrunner. The series will focus on Rebellion’s intelligence officer before the events of Rogue One. At the time of its announcement, the series was described as a rousing spy thriller that would reunite Andor with his long-time friend and reprogrammed Imperial Droid, K-2SO voiced by Alan Tudyk.
Arjona’s breakout role came on Legendary’s Pacific Rim: Uprising, where she co-starred opposite John Boyega and Scott Eastwood. She is also set to appear in Jared Leto’s Marvel vampire flick Morbius which until the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak was set to hit multiplexes this summer.
