The hotly-anticipated third season of The Mandalorian will hit screens a little later than its predecessors
With the season finale of The Mandalorian season two speeding towards us like Slave-1 emerging out of lightspeed, all eyes are on Lucasfilm to reveal when we will be able to return to the galaxy far, far away with Mando and Baby Grogu; and at the Disney Investor Day, we got the answer.

Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed that The Mandalorian Season 3 will be hitting our screens around Christmas 2021, almost two months later than past seasons. Aside from the inevitable impact of Covid-19, the reason for the delay may be the knock-on effect of having multiple shows in production at the same time. The recently announced Ahsoka and Rangers Of The New Republic series’ have plots that will intertwine with the events of The Mandalorian, therefore Lucasfilm may be waiting to get all their ducks in a row before getting the party started. All three series are expected to utilize the same additional volume sets for their productions, and having them shoot concurrently would be the most cost-effective way forward.
Additionally, even though it wasn’t officially announced at the Investor Day presentation, the long-anticipated Boba Fett series is still presumed to be in the pipeline with Lucasfilm opting not to speculate on the future of the character until his involvement in The Mandalorian season two has reached its climax.

Either way, the future slate of Star Wars is looking extremely healthy. With Mando season 3 expected to go before the cameras very soon, and Ahsoka, Rangers Of The New Republic, Andor, and Obi-Wan Kenobi speeding towards the production line, our screens will be bursting with Star Wars content. And that can only be a good thing.
