A new still from Ghostbusters Afterlife reveals the young stars of the supernatural ready to bust some ghosts

One of the biggest disappointments of 2020 was missing out on Ghostbusters Afterlife. In a perfect world, we would have already been reunited with the original crew and would be gearing up to welcome them home on home media. Instead, the movie will now release on June 11, 2021. And we are still nowhere nearer to understanding where our beloved Ghostbusters have been for all these years.

Empire has released a new image from Ghostbusters: Afterlife which shows McKenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Logan Kim suited up and ready to bust some ghosts. Check it out below:

Ghostbusters Afterlife

Ghostbusters: Afterlife was co-written and directed by Jason Reitman, son of original director Ivan Reitman. And while chatting with Empire he revealed that one of the greatest moments of his life was when he was able to screen the film for his Father.

“My father hasn’t been leaving the house much because of Covid,” Reitman told Empire. “But he took a test, put on a mask, and drove down to the Sony lot to watch the movie with the studio. And after, he cried, and he said, ‘I’m so proud to be your father.’ And it was one of the great moments of my life.”

Reitman also confirmed that although the movie is going to carry on with the comedic traditions of its predecessors, Afterlife will also be packed full of scares. Even adding that the great Steven Spielberg appreciates a good scare!

“The feeling that I’ve kind of held onto is that while it is very funny, it really scared me. It was really my first experience with a horror film. I was at a Directors Guild meeting and I happened to be sitting next to Steven Spielberg – when I told him I was working on Ghostbusters, he out of nowhere said, ‘Library Ghost – top ten scares of all time.’ And it’s true.”

Personally, I cannot wait to get my first look at Ghostbusters Afterlife. This is the movie event I have been waiting for all my adult life. And at this point, not even COVID would stop me from zipping up my jumpsuit. From dusting off my Ecto-Trap, and making the pilgrimage to my nearest cinema. After all, I ain’t afraid of no ghosts…

Ghostbusters Afterlife will be unleashed in cinemas from  June 11, 2021.
