Marvel keeps doing it! I’m telling you, for the last seven years Marvel Studios has become a reliable source of entertainment that has managed to surprise and wow me at every chance and that continues with the premiere of What If…?
This episode asks the question, What If Captain Carter became the First Avenger? What transpires is a swath of events new and old altered by the presence of Peggy Carter as the Super Soldier she becomes along with her compatriot, Steve Rogers, still skinny but now with a massive suit of armor created by Howard Stark to help him fight in battles.
EMOTIONAL
It’s a beautiful retelling of events with some humor, some heartfelt moments between Peggy and Steve. And yes, the episode almost made me cry…twice. Peggy Carter shines in a way we’ve never seen before and even though she’s always been awesome you can’t help staring at the screen like, “Wow.” But most importantly, as a premiere, it’s very clear that this series will feel very much like a part of the MCU.
These are real stories in other universes, and with a rumor going around that Captain Carter may make her live-action debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness there’s no doubt we’ll likely get a chance to see Hayley Atwell suit up as the incredible super-soldier.
