Disney Plus Day 2021 will showcase the future of Marvel, Star Wars, and more with a special look at the legacy of Boba Fett
Star Wars and Marvel will be headlining this year’s Disney Plus Day on November 12th. The house of mouse teased us with its incredible lineup last night and has promised to deliver a special look at the legacy of Boba Fett. So, join me as I unpack what we can expect to see from this year’s mega-event!
Now, before we get too excited, Disney is yet to confirm the Marvel lineup, so we have to take everything with a pinch of salt. But Disney did confirm that they will offer “a special celebrating the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney Plus with an exciting look towards the future.” Excitingly, Marvel’s next tentpole series to release is Hawkeye. And if the recent trailer is anything to go by, this series is going to be epic. Further down the line, we have Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight, so we may be getting a closer look at these exciting new adventures. And with filming underway, hopefully, we’ll be rewarded with a juicy sneak peek. Either way, it’s an exciting prospect for the Marvel fans among us!
As for Star Wars, and the news just gets better because we will be treated to a Boba Fett special “celebrating the origins and legacy” of the best bounty hunter in the galaxy. Sadly, it’s not clear whether Lucasfilm will be giving us the long-awaited trailer for The Book Of Boba Fett. But given the scale of this showcase, I’d say it’s a safe bet.
Further down the pike, we have three major series landing in 2022. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars: Andor, and The Mandalorian Season Three. So, it’s a safe assumption to expect to see our first footage from these incredible shows. Although Mando Season 3 is yet to go before the cameras, Obi-Wan and Andor are in post-production so these seem the most likely. But I wouldn’t rule out a sizzle reel from The Bad Batch Season 2 either!
In addition to the Star Wars and Marvel showcases, Disney will also release two of its biggest juggernauts on the platform. Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings will debut following its successful run in theatres. And Jungle Cruise will become free to all subscribers after its release on Premier Access and in selected theatres.
Also up for the showcase is the newest addition in the Home Alone franchise titled Home Sweet Home Alone. And if that isn’t enough to have you jumping for joy, new episodes of The World According To Jeff Goldblum will be revealed. As will new animated shorts from The Simpsons and Luca, in addition to the new “Frozen” spin-off series Olaf Presents. More Disney shorts fronted by Frozen Fever will also hit the streamer on the same day, along with Michael Keaton’s Dopesick that arrives via Star.
“The inaugural Disney Plus Day will be a grand-scale celebration of our subscribers across the entire company,” Disney CEO Bob Chapek said in a statement. “This day of appreciation brings to life our mission to entertain, inform, and inspire fans and families around the globe through the power of unparalleled storytelling, and will become an annual tentpole event to be amplified across our global businesses.”
From the sounds of things, these reveals are just the tip of the iceberg. And with the event looking set to become an annual affair moving forward, Disney Plus Day could change the game for fans everywhere. Of course, we’ll keep you updated on the latest details as they emerge. And we will be on hand to report on the top stories, so keep it real and keep it Future Of The Force.
