What If…? | The Finale Only Reiterates The Endless Possibilities of the Multiverse
Does the season finale of What If…? point towards a spectacular second season? Annlyel seems to think so!
So, the conclusion of What If…? Season One has arrived and yes, it delivers. The last episode was shocking in so many ways, delivering epic scene after epic scene with a few laughs and tragic moments along the way. This finale builds upon the last episode’s surprises by introducing the Guardians of the Multiverse. A team of heroes handpicked (at times literally) by The Watcher to save the entire multiverse from Ultron.
The first ten-fifteen minutes of the episode is filled with that classic Marvel humor we’ve gotten used to as our team becomes, well, a team. And then the showdown commences.
There are plenty of moments to appreciate the skillsets of our heroes (with Doctor Strange and Captain Carter stealing the show). And still more surprises to make the finale feel not only interesting but like we’re heading to another tragic ending. SPOILER ALERT! The good guys win, and boy was it satisfying how they did it too. While the best episodes of the season still, in my opinion, belong to Episodes 4 and 8 this finale was fantastic in so many ways. But more importantly, it once again reiterated the endlessness of these stories and all of the incredible possibilities.
I can’t wait to see what Season 2 can bring to the table. And I can honestly say this has been quite the ride for the last nine weeks. What If…? has undoubtedly been my second favorite MCU Disney+ series after Loki, which makes sense considering it’s a bit of a spinoff. (By the way, we’re going to need Captain Carter to show up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for at least a little bit because she’s so awesome and I love her so much! I loved that tease with her at the end of the episode. It let us know that yes, she will be returning in Season 2.)
