Will Luke Skywalker return in Star Wars: Ahsoka?
Luke Skywalker is one of the greatest fictional characters of all time. So it’s no surprise that ever since Mark Hamill returned to reprise the role for what is, in my opinion, the greatest ending to a Star Wars movie of all time in The Force Awakens his continuing contribution to the franchise has been nothing short of legendary.
THE LAST JEDI
In The Last Jedi, his role took a divisive turn as we were forced to look at a version of Luke Skywalker who had lost all hope and become truly beatdown by the circumstances of Time. Many people were saddened, even maddened, by the fact that their hero was no more. But that wasn’t true. At the end of The Last Jedi Luke Skywalker becomes even more powerful than we’d ever seen him before. He saved the Resistance, aided his sister when she needed him most, and passed the torch to Rey. A young Jedi trainee who would go on to continue the Skywalker legacy. All while also teaching his former padawan, Kylo Ren, a thing or two.
In The Rise of Skywalker, he was now the wise ghost to help another generation of Jedi on their path. J.J Abrams even made sure to remind us of his new status as a Jedi Master by having him lift his old X-Wing out of Ahch-To’s waters. Just like Yoda once did for him.
With that, it seemed like we would never see Luke Skywalker again. Unless the character would now be portrayed by the fan-favorite candidate and Hamill-approved Sebastian Stan. And then, the season finale of The Mandalorian‘s second season happened.

A LEGEND RETURNS
Living rooms, bedrooms, and wherever else you may have seen that finale was filled with the shocked screams; streaming tears of joy, and raucous happiness of Star Wars fans as Luke Skywalker made a striking return to help Grogu. I still remember watching that episode for the first time. It was one of the most rewarding moments I’ll ever remember as a Star Wars fan. And then again, it seemed like we wouldn’t see Luke Skywalker for another great period. Until once again Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau decided to make us Star Wars fans extremely happy.

With new-and-improved technology to bring young Luke Skywalker fully to life; we got to see Luke Skywalker teaching Grogu the ways of the Force in the sixth episode of The Book of Boba Fett. It was an awe-inspiring episode that brought me even more joy than his appearance in The Mandalorian. It honestly was the closest thing to magic I’d ever seen.
And not only did we get extensive time with Luke Skywalker but we also got to see him interact with Ahsoka Tano. It was a moment long-awaited by fans but I feel it was brought to life in The Book of Boba Fett for an even greater reason.

STAR WARS: AHSOKA
Dave Filoni is currently working on Star Wars: Ahsoka; actors are being cast in the series, and that means we will be getting Ahsoka next year. Considering that the show will most likely deal with Thrawn, Ezra Bridger, and who knows what else the plot has going for it; it’s very plausible that Luke Skywalker could make an appearance in the show. In fact, I’m almost certain we will get a moment between the two of them that Star Wars fans will be talking about for years to come.

And even if we don’t, Disney has made it very clear that Luke Skywalker is here in live-action media and here to stay.
Star Wars: Ahsoka with or without Luke Skywalker will release on Disney Plus sometime in 2023.
