New Look At Obi-Wan Kenobi

A handful of new images from Obi-Wan Kenobi reveal Ewan McGregor’s Jedi Master sporting some fresh attire!

Total Film’s coverage of Obi-Wan Kenobi is hitting newsstands on April 28th. But that hasn’t stopped them from blowing our minds with a trio of juicy new images from the series. The outlet published the images under its GamesRadar banner and they reveal Ewan McGregor’s Jedi Master sporting some fresh un-Jedi-like attire. In fact, the images deliver our first look at the Grand Inquisitor; Obi-Wan walking the streets of the neon-lit world of Daiyu, and Kenobi walking the street of Tatooine. But don’t take my word for it. Dust off your lightsaber and say hello there to the new images below:

ENTER THE INQUISITOR

Our first new image delivers a better look at the Grand Inquisitor, played by Rupert Friend. The legendary villain of Star Wars: Rebels fame is finally making the transition to the realm of live-action but his appearance has been met with a divisive response. Many fans have cited the rounded head the character is sporting here which is a major distinction from his elongated sculpt from the animated series. But, I think you’ll agree that he looks menacing here. And with his lightsaber drawn and a squad of Imperial Stormtroopers at his side, his appearance is absolutely terrifying. Take a look:

DAIYU NIGHTS

Our next image takes us to the neon-lit streets of Daiyu. A new addition to the landscape of the galaxy far, far away. The image shows Obi-Wan sporting his new blue hooded attire and blending into the crowds frequenting its bustling streets. The cityscape looks eerily reminiscent of George Lucas’ concept for the Star Wars: Underworld TV series which sadly failed to materialize. So perhaps this is Lucasfilm’s nod to the maker’s original vision.

FAMILIAR TERRAIN

And finally, our last image takes us back to the familiar streets of Tattoine where Obi-Wan can be seen sporting his new blue “Bail Organa” like attire. Many fans have suggested that Kenobi has adopted the same fashion sense as the civilians of Mos Eisley to blend in and watch over the young Luke Skywalker. However, it is a polarizing experience to see Kenobi wearing something other than his traditional Jedi robes. But this is a testament to Deborah Chow’s commitment to expanding the saga in bold new ways…and that is an exciting prospect!
