During the global press conference for Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ewan McGregor said that reuniting with Hayden Christensen was like some sort of timewarp!
With just days to go until Obi-Wan Kenobi unleashes the Force on Disney+, we got the opportunity to attend the global press conference featuring Ewan McGregor, Moses Ingram, and producer/director Deborah Chow. The trio was on hand to talk us through the process of bringing this monumental series to the screen. And Ewan McGregor was more than happy to talk us through his long-awaited reunion with Hayden Christensen. And boy does it sound emotional.
The relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker is renowned for its complexity. Fans have compared it to a father and son/brotherly relationship that descended into an all-out war in the final stages of Revenge Of The Sith. But for Ewan and Hayden, the clash of the Jedi only served to bring them closer together. And although the duo has grown apart in recent years, their on-screen reunion was like being in a time warp. Almost as if time had stood still and their roles as Master and Apprentice had never faded into the Force. Check out what Ewan had to say below.

EWAN MCGREGOR ON HAYDEN
“Oh, great. I mean we just were so close when we met the first — we made Episode II and III together and we made them in Australia. So, we were both away from home and we had so much time training for the fights together and then, being on set together. But also, because we were so far from home, we spent a lot of time outside of work together as well. And so, we were close. And then, over the years, I guess, we had slightly lost touch. I hadn’t seen Hayden for years. So, when I saw him again and was able to talk about this project with him, it was very, very exciting. It was great. And when we were acting together, it was really like some sort of time warp. Really like looking across at him on set was like the last 17 years didn’t happen at all, you know. It was really peculiar.”

RELEASE
It was a blast to hear Ewan speak so candidly about the prequel trilogy. Especially his growing friendship with Hayden Christensen who returns as Darth Vader in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. But how will their relationship expand when the duo meets face to face on the screen for the first time in almost two decades? Join us and tune in Friday to take your first steps into a larger world.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will unleash the Force on Disney Plus on May 27.
