“This week’s episode of Fanfare of Adolescence brings an interesting development for Amane as Shun’s story takes a dramatic turn. You do not want to miss this one!”

Good news, it is Saturday so this means it is time for our weekly review of Fanfare of Adolescence. Bad news, there are only three episodes left. So what happened in the newest episode?

A NEW PATH

Last week’s episode teased some troubles for Amane. And today’s episode delves into that. Amane cannot ride horses anymore because of his stubbornness. Indeed, he is not one to follow orders nor does he want to learn anything from the Japanese schools. Plus, he sees his classmates only as rivals which does not help either. Despite, being cocky, he is a likeable character. However, his behavior prevents him to evolve. It can only lead him so far.

And this episode sets a turning point for this character. He starts realizing his own faults as he learns more about Mr. Asahi’s past. Obviously, with a character like Amane, we cannot expect him to change radically. But, he still makes a major turn in how he approaches being in Japan. This is definitely going to be interesting to see his interactions with his classmates going forward. I am also looking forward to see his evolution in the jockey world.

TRAGEDY

This episode continues Shun’s story as well. Just like Amane, it is a big episode for my favorite character. Indeed, Kisuke, one of the two horses he trains is about to retire. This is an important moment both for the horse and Shun. However, Kisuke’s final race does not go as planned. Right from the start of the episode, there are foreshadowing moments. And having watched the episode a second time, it makes even more sense now!

In fact, the episode takes a pretty dark turn. It is definitely not something I had expected. But, it really explores all the different aspects of what it is like to work in the world of horse jockeys. There is definitely a desire to tell a story that is authentic. And I definitely applaud the writers for making that choice, no matter how sad it is. It is heartbreaking for us but it is also heartbreaking for Shun. Furthermore, the consequences of what happens are going to be central to Shun’s story in the remaining episodes.

VERDICT

This week’s episode of Fanfare of Adolescence brings an interesting development for Amane as Shun’s story takes a dramatic turn. You do not want to miss this one!
