Harrison Ford took to the stage at Disney’s D23 Expo to deliver an emotional first look at Indiana Jones 5
It’s been fifteen years since Harrison Ford slipped into the Fedora for Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull. But within that time, fan appreciation for the character has only grown, And at Disney’s D23 Expo, Harrison Ford was on hand to give the gathered crowds a first look at his fifth and final adventure. Sadly, the footage wasn’t published on any public forum. But thanks to those in attendance, we have an idea of what went down in Indy’s never-ending search for fortune and glory.
THE FINAL ADVENTURE
The footage was revealed to feature underwater scenes; carts racing down streets, and people fighting on the top of a train. But the most notable revelation is the return of John Rhys-Davies as Indy’s long-time companion Sallah. The teaser then climaxed with Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character being defended by Jones brandishing his trusty whip.
Ordinarily, this footage alone would have been enough to have us dusting off our Fedora, But Harrison Ford then addressed the crowd, and in an emotional speech confirmed that Indy 5 will officially be his last adventure. Ford said that the movie has a “really human story to tell” but will also “kick your ass.” He ended with the news that this will be his last Indy movie, saying that he “This is it, I’m not falling down for you again!”
Directed by James Mangold, the currently untitled fifth Indy adventure stars Harrison Ford alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen; Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Toby Jones, Antonio Banderas, and Shaunette Renée Wilson. And finally, we can add John Rhys-Davies to the cast list. Whether or not Karen Allen will make a shock return as Marion Ravenwood remains to be seen. But given the fact that this will be Indy’s final adventure, I wouldn’t bet against it.
The panel concluded with James Mangold revealing that both Steven Speilberg and George Lucas have been involved in the project. Meaning that all the franchise originators have been on hand to help bring the final adventure home. And with John Williams returning to deliver the soundtrack, Indy’s last ride is set to be one of the best yet.
Indiana Jones 5 will conclude the search for fortune and glory on June 30, 2023.
