The second season of the hit Netflix series promises to explore the legacy of legends. Vikings Valhalla returns in January 2023
Netflix has dropped the gripping new trailer for Vikings Valhalla Season Two. The hit series features several of the world’s most famous Vikings as they raid their way to conquer England. The series hit the high notes during its first season with its relentless bloodletting and visceral battle action. And with the season finale ending on a jaw-dropping cliffhanger, fans of the show have been yearning to discover what happened next.
Well today, the wait has finally come to an end because the new trailer brings the Viking action back with a bang. And this season, our heroes will be venturing off in search of their destiny. Watch the intense new trailer below.
And if that isn’t enough to have you brushing up on your Norse mythology, Netflix also dropped an awesome new poster for the series.
Set over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century, Vikings: Valhalla chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived — the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter). The series’ second season picks up with our heroes shortly after the tragic fall of Kattegat; an event that has shattered their dreams and altered their destinies. Finding themselves suddenly fugitives in Scandinavia, they are forced to test their ambitions and courage in worlds beyond the fjords of Kattegat.
Personally, I cannot wait to see where the adventure takes Leif Erikson, his fearless sister Freydis Eriksdotter, and Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson next. The debut season was a breath of fresh air and explored Norse mythology in an invigorating new way. And although the show is a spin-off to the original Vikings series, casual viewers won’t need to be versed in what transpired before. The series boasts the perfect blend of Norse mythology, political intrigue, and brutal action. And even gives Game of Thrones a run for its money.
What’s more, the series is steeped in historical facts, which only adds to the appeal. After all, Leif Erikson is historically considered to have been the first European to have set foot on continental North America. Roughly half a millennium before Christopher Columbus. And according to the Norse Sagas, Harald Sigurdsson was King of Norway from 1046 to 1066. So fans can join these historical figures as they wage war on the settlements they come across on their way to the new world. And that alone is worth the subscription fee.
Vikings: Valhalla will return to Netflix on January 12th.
