Joaquin Phoenix returns as The Joker alongside Lady Gaga in the Warner Bros. sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux.
The first Joker movie opened to critical and box office success back in 2019 (Read our review here). With a powerhouse of a performance from Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck/ The Joker, the film went on to win awards around the globe, including the Best Actor Oscar for Phoenix. It was planned to be a standalone movie, a one-and-done deal. But money talks in Hollywood.
Due to hit theaters on October 4th, 2024 is the sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux. The movie will see Phoenix return once again as his version of the clown prince of crime alongside Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. The film doesn’t connect to the current and new DC slate of films, so it won’t affect Margot Robbie playing the character again (if she decides to do so or if James Gunn wants her to). The first set photos of Gaga as Harley have made their way online.

Joker: Folie à Deux will be causing double mayhem in theaters on October 4th, 2024. Incidentally, Folie à Deux is french for “Madness For Two”. Sounds quite apt, don’t you think?
