The Bad Batch is something that I can honestly say is now one of the best stories in this franchise
The Bad Batch has been on for two years now, and I will admit, this animated series hasn’t always been one of my favorites. Often, I found myself bored with the content, making Season Two something I wasn’t placing high on my anticipation list but through the slightly underwhelming story beats were bursts of sunshine that revealed the show’s true potential. That potential, in fact, really began to ramp up at the end of this season, leading into an epic two-part finale that left me sobbing profusely at 4 am on a Wednesday morning.
I didn’t realize how attached I had become to The Bad Batch until this finale. This story told so beautifully throughout two seasons, has reminded me why I believe Star Wars animation is the real heart of this franchise. Like The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels before it, The Bad Batch continues a tradition of telling a rich, complex, heartwarming story that leaves you far more attached to the characters than expected. Seeing all of the Rebels and Clone Wars easter eggs in The Mandalorian has been so rewarding because we’ve grown such an attachment to these stories in this underrated medium.

The Bad Batch is something that I can honestly say is now one of the best stories in this franchise. How it brilliantly displays how the clones are obsolete by the time of A New Hope is both chilling and powerful. I cannot wait to see what happens next in Season 3, but I am still recovering from that emotional rollercoaster of a finale. Like The Twilight Apprentice Part 1 & 2 from the second season of Star Wars: Rebels, these episodes will be heralded as some of the finest in Star Wars animation.
