Ezra Miller returns as Barry Allen/ The Flash in the long-gestating DC Movie. And he isn’t coming alone!
After years of waiting, and promises that it would be forthcoming, The Flash is almost here. The film has been long-gestating at Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Entertainment. Ever since the original version of Justice League was released, the film has been on the drawing board. On June 16th, it will be speeding in at last. Ezra Miller returns as Barry Allen/ The Flash in a movie that is based on the Flashpoint comic book storyline. The film will reset the continuity for the DCEU, and alongside December’s Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, will lead into the new DCU and Superman: Legacy.
The film will also feature the return of Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Michael Shannon as General Zod, and Antje Traue as Faora-Ul. Sasha Calle will make her debut as Sasha Calle as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Barry’s father, replacing Billy Crudup, and Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Barry’s mother. Ben Affleck will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/ Batman from Barry’s timeline. But, of course, the big appearance will be Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne / Batman for the first time since Batman Returns in 1992. The new trailer and posters for the film have been released today.
THE PREMISE
Barry Allen / The Flash travels back in time to prevent his mother’s murder, which traps him in an alternate reality without metahumans. He enlists the help of his younger self, an older Batman, and the Kryptonian castaway Supergirl in order to save this world from the restored General Zod and return to his universe.
BEHIND THE SCENES
The film is directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson. The screenplay is based on a story by John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein, and Joby Harold. The film is produced by Barbara Muschietti and Michael Disco while the score is from the renowned composer Benjamin Wallfisch. And the good news is, the score will feature the cues from the classic Danny Elfman scores for Batman (1989), and Batman Returns (1992).
It has been reported that cameos from Henry Cavill as Superman, and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman have been cut from the final film but it is expected that Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Temuera Morrison as Thomas Curry will still appear in the final cut. It remains to be seen if any of the cameos that have been shot for the film will appear now that the DCU has been reset.
