“The Hot Toys Wenwu is an amazing addition to the Marvel line. He comes with a lot of accessories and he has a fantastic headsculpt, it’s truly spot on.”
Hot Toys has finally released their Wenwu figure so you can display him next to Shang-Chi and recreate their iconic fight from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. But is the figure worth the asking price? Let’s find out!
THE BOX AND ACCESSORIES
The box has the same design as the Shang-Chi figure. It features a promotional picture of Wenwu. There’s the Ten Rings symbol at the back. The main color of the box is blue because of his outfit. Like Shang-Chi, Wenwu comes with a lot of accessories giving you many possibilities for display. The display base is a simple one. It features the logo of the Ten Rings. You also have the name of the movie and the name of the character. The stand is a dynamic one, so be careful with that.
Then, he has nine hands – two fist hands, two hands to hold the rings, a pointing finger hand, and two pairs of gesture hands. He also has two additional arms with rings on them. Finally, he has four different types of ring effects – one to recreate the fight against Shang-Chi, the other part of the effect comes with Shang-Chi, a pair of launching rings effect and two attack effects, the rings on these are removable.
THE FIGURE
Wenwu and Shang-Chi were two of my most anticipated figures of the year. And I’m not disappointed at all. This is an amazing figure. It is a simple outfit but there are a lot of details on it with different textures that Hot Toys has beautifully recreated. Just on the torso, there are three different textures of fabric. It is impressive work.
The boots are two separate pieces which means you have feet articulation, which is a must for a figure like this one. You want to go all in with the poses. Unlike Shang-Chi, Wenwu’s outfit allows you to get great action poses without having to worry about damaging the figure. Plus, the arms are really easy to change, no problem with that for this figure. This figure has over 30 points of articulation so you can get great action poses.
THE HEADSCULPT
The headsculpt was made by Taeho Kang and painted by JC Hong. The likeness of Tony Leung is spot on. Undoubtedly, Wenwu and Shang-Chi’s head sculpts are some of the best Marvel sculpts we’ve got. I am so impressed. And like Shang-Chi, I would say it’s too bad they didn’t include the separate rolling eyeballs, this would have been perfect.
