The King of the Monsters Returns in the Teaser Trailer for Toho's Godzilla Minus One

Godzilla has risen once more to terrorise Postwar Japan in the trailer for his latest movie, Godzilla Minus One

Godzilla Minus One is coming! The film is the 37th in the long-running franchise and the fifth film in the Reiwa era. Once again, the giant lizard rises to destroy Japan, this time depicted in a Postwar state. As you’d expect, the emergence of the Titan will see people and buildings flattened in glorious detail. No matter how many times they’ve battled him, no one has yet managed to finally put him in his grave. The well-executed film trailer portrays Japan’s cycle of rebuilding and destruction. Head for the high ground as we take a look.

THE PREMISE

After the war, Japan’s economic state has been reduced to zero. Godzilla appears and plunges the country into a negative state.

THE CAST

The cast for this new movie includes Ryunosuke Kamiki as Koichi Shikishima, Minami Hamabe as Noriko Oishi, Yuki Yamada as Shiro Mizushima, Munetaka Aoki as Sosaku Tachibana, Hidetaka Yoshioka as Kenji Noda, Sakura Ando as Sumiko Ota, and Kuranosuke Sasaki as Yoji Akitsu. Takashi Yamazaki wrote, directed, and incorporated various visual effects in the film.

The film is scheduled to be released in Japan on November 3rd. Toho’s American subsidiary Toho International will later release it nationwide in the United States on December 1. There is as yet no word on whether it will see a theatrical release in other territories. But it would be a shame if it didn’t as it looks to be yet another brilliant monster movie from the studio, ahead of the franchise’s 70th anniversary.
