Who pruned Loki and saved him from annihilation in the season 2 premiere? Annlyel has a theory!
LokiĀ is back and better than ever. Its second season premiere last Thursday was everything I could’ve ever asked for and more. My excitement for the series was buried beneath a dense layer of MCU fatigue following the dismal Secret Invasion series. And with the lack of marketing, it was almost easy to forget it was coming out.
However, as I sat there on Thursday night, leaning forward as the episode played out. I felt happiness stirring in my heart. I’ve been obsessed with the season premiere ever since. I couldn’t be more excited for the second episode, which some are saying is even better than last week’s episode. :0

TIME-SLIPPING
One of the fascinating elements of the season’s premiere was the utilization of time travel via Loki’s time-slipping. We saw him being yanked between the past and the present. However, it was the future that was the most fascinating. In that tense future, as pandemonium ensued, Loki was pruned by a mysterious someone just as he saw Sylvie again for the first time since she pushed him through a time door.
Of course, everyone began to wonder who pruned him. Was it Renslayer, was it O.B., or was it himself?! Thanks to an eagle-eyed fan, we now know who pruned Loki, ultimately saving him from being lost to time forever.

SPOILER TERRITORY
The mystery savior was, in fact, a future version of Loki.
Like Harry Potter saved himself and Sirius Black from the Dementors with a powerful use of the spell, Expecto Patronum, in Prisoner of Azkaban,Ā Loki will have to save himself to ensure that his mission will succeed. This is quite a fascinating turn in the story that I can’t wait to see elaborated upon further.
The Prisoner of Azkaban has always been one of my favorite uses of time travel in any medium. Mainly because it’s easy to understand, and it leads to some fantastic moments. LokiĀ using this as a storytelling tool in the later episodes has a chance to lead to some extraordinary moments that will answer so many questions. Such as finding out why that phone was ringing, and who was calling.

The first season ofĀ LokiĀ was already a treat to behold. But this season has the chance to not only be better than the first season but to be one of the greatest installments in the MCU hands down. And if this season sticks the landing, its repercussions on the franchise as a whole could lead to some fascinating developments for Phase 5.
