The live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender emerges in 2024. Here’s your first look at Netflix’s newest adventure
The SAG-AFTRA strikes are officially over and Hollywood is quickly emerging from its slumber. All the major studios are busy changing their release calendars and dropping new content for us to digest. But Netflix is leading the charge by dropping a deluge of teasers for its upcoming 2024 slate. And if your jaw wasn’t already on the floor after reading the title of this article, it soon will be. The streamer has dropped the mind-blowing first trailer for its upcoming live-action adaptation of AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER – and it looks absolutely beautiful.

The series launches on Netflix on February 22nd, 2024, and with its stunning cinematography, incredible visuals, and impressive special effects, the show is a shoo-in to delight legions of fans the world over. But don’t take my word for it. Power up and check out the trailer below.
SYNOPSIS
“Water. Earth. Fire. Air. The four nations once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world. With the current incarnation of the Avatar yet to emerge, the world has lost hope.
But like a light in the darkness, hope springs forth when Aang, a young Air Nomad — and the last of his kind — reawakens to take his rightful place as the next Avatar. Alongside his newfound friends Sokka and Katara, siblings and members of the Southern Water Tribe, Aang embarks on a fantastical, action-packed quest to save the world and fight back against the fearsome onslaught of Fire Lord Ozai. But with a driven Crown Prince Zuko determined to capture them, it won’t be an easy task. They’ll need the help of the many allies and colorful characters they meet along the way.”

POSTER POWER
Alongside the outstanding new trailer, the streamer also dropped a branch new official poster for the series. The glorious one-sheet features Aang, Katara, and Sokka taking flight on Appa’s back and it looks every bit as impressive as the trailer. Check it out below.
CAST & CREATIVES
Avatar: The Last Airbender stars Gordon Cormier as Aang, the fearless, easygoing 12-year-old who is keeper of the world’s balance and peace (no pressure). He’ll be joined by Kiawentiio as waterbender Katara; Ian Ousley as Katara’s brother, Sokka; Dallas Liu as firebending royalty, Zuko; Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai; Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh; Elizabeth Yu as Azula; and Ken Leung as Commander Zhao.
RELEASE
It should be noted that the series is not without its share of controversies. In recent months, series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko exited the project due to creative differences. And since the trailers release, voice acting legend Dee Bradley Baker has confirmed that he was not approached to return to voice Momo or Appa for the series. These major alterations will undoubtedley upset many longterm fans of the property. But with its impressive cinematography, stunning visuals, talented cast, and massive scale, sureley AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER is set to become an instant classic?
