Marvel Studios has to push back five of its upcoming releases after the Hollywood strikes. Get the details here.

Marvel Studios has had to join some of the other Hollywood studios in having to push back its upcoming content. After the actors strike in Tinseltown, their big movies will not be ready to meet their scheduled release dates. Where one movie only gets a delay of just over a month, some see themselves pushed back even further. In the case of two of the movies, they see themselves shunted back by nine months. Let’s take a look at what the films affected are.

REVIEW | THE MARVELS (2023)

DEADPOOL 3

Deadpool 3 is actually in a unique position as it was almost complete before the strikes bit. It still won’t make its assigned May 3rd, 2024 release date but its delay is only around six weeks as it will now open on July 26th, 2024 instead. Ryan Reynolds returns as the merc with a mouth. And after years of asking and being refused, has finally managed to persuade Hugh Jackman to return as Logan/ Wolverine for the first time since his farewell as the character in James Mangold’s Logan.

FANTASTIC FOUR

The debut of the eponymous superhero team in the MCU has been moved from February 14, 2025, to May 2nd, 2025. Not much is known about the film or the cast for the movie as yet. It seems as if Marvel and especially Kevin Feige are playing their cards very close to their chests. But we can rest assured that the Fantastic Four are coming to the MCU finally.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD

The debut of Anthony Mackie as Captain America has seen its release pushed back by nine months. Originally due to open on July 26th, 2024, the film will now open on February 14th, 2025. The film will see Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres take over the mantle of Falcon. With Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns / Leader, the return of Liv Tyler as Betty Ross for the first time since The Incredible Hulk. And Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, taking over the role from the late William Hurt, the film will see Sam Wilson (Mackie) become a more humane Captain America.

THUNDERBOLTS

A world without Avengers doesn’t mean there’s not a group of superheroes. There is a group and they’re called the Thunderbolts. And they’ve been delayed. The film moves from December 20th, 2024 to a July 25th, 2025 release. The movie features Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier / White Wolf. Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr / Ghost. Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent. Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova / Black Widow. David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian, and Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov / Taskmaster. Harrison Ford will also appear as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.

BLADE

In the least surprising news of the lot, the reboot of Blade has been pushed back yet again. The movie, starring Mahershala Ali as the Daywalker has had a troubled time making its way to the screen ever since it was announced back in 2019. Directors and writers have signed on and then departed the project at will. And even Mahershala Ali himself came close to walking away from the film. However, Yann Demange has signed on to direct the reboot with Michael Green currently writing the script. The film will also feature the Ebony Blade, glimpsed during the end credits stinger of Eternals. The film has moved from February 14th, 2025 to November 7th, 2025 instead. And will be rated R.
