With new series, great documentaries, a Hollywood blockbuster, and Christmas movies, there are Christmas delights to unwrap this December on Paramount+

Paramount+ has plenty to unwrap this December. From new dramatic series like The Doll Factory, and The Castaways. A look at the pop group Simple Minds, an abundance of Christmas movies. And a Hollywood blockbuster premiere in the form of Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts, the entertainment mountain is lavishing us with Christmas gifts just waiting for us to rip open and enjoy.

THE DOLL FACTORY

The first two episodes will drop on November 27th. The full series will be available on December 1st. There are 6 episodes that run for 60 minutes each. London, 1851. Iris paints dolls for a living, alongside her twin sister, Rose, but dreams of becoming an artist. By night, she secretly paints herself naked, honing her craft. Silas is a taxidermist who owns a shop filled with his creations. He hopes to one day find an item so unique he will be catapulted to fame. Louis is a painter and member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, searching for his next muse. In a city humming with anticipation for the Great Exhibition, their three worlds collide, and Iris is offered an opportunity to escape and start a new life.

To do so, she must abandon her sister, sacrifice her reputation, and launch herself into the unknown. As Iris’ world expands, she finds herself challenging patriarchal beliefs, exploring her sexuality, and starting to experience the things she has always dreamed of. But alongside her newfound independence, a story of dark obsession begins to unfold.

THE CASTAWAYS

The box set drops on December 26th. It contains five episodes of 60 minutes each. Sisters Lori and Erin embark on the holiday of a lifetime in Fiji. However, after a huge fight, Erin never boards the island-hopping flight to their resort-and the plane, with Lori on board, never arrives at its destination. Months later, with no plane or survivors having been found, Lori’s credit card is suddenly used in a corner shop in a remote village in Fiji, and on CCTV Erin recognises the plane’s pilot. She sets out on a journey to find him and discover the mystery of what happened to her sister.

Jumping between the two sisters’ perspectives, Erin undertakes a perilous mission to uncover the truth of the crash, while Lori struggles for survival among her fellow castaways. Each shocking twist will help reveal the truth about what happened to Lori and the other passengers. A truth that someone on the island will kill to keep secret.

THE SERIAL KILLER’S WIFE

The box set drops on December 16th. It contains four episodes of 60 minutes each. In an idyllic community nestled on the Kentish coast, the murder of a local young woman sends ripples of shock and gossip through the town. When the respected village doctor, Tom Fairchild, is arrested, all prying eyes turn on him and his wife, Beth. Beth’s background is very different from those of the affluent community she now inhabits, and she is determined to protect her family and their reputation above everything. However, when Tom is exonerated due to a lack of evidence, Beth uncovers proof of her husband’s double life and dark sexual proclivities, forcing her to re-examine everything she knew about the man she married.

As cold cases re-open and more dead women are linked to Tom, Beth’s own past becomes headline news, leading her to seek help from Adam, her husband’s best friend. As Beth peels away the layers of her supposedly perfect life, she is forced to confront disturbing questions about herself and her marriage. Has she ignored signs of her husband’s violence all along? And does she truly know the man she vowed to spend her life with?

FINESTKIND

The film drops on December 16th. Finestkind tells the story of two brothers raised in different worlds, who are reunited as adults over a fateful summer. Set against the backdrop of commercial fishing, the story takes on primal stakes when desperate circumstances force the brothers to strike a deal with a violent Boston crime gang. Along the way a young woman finds herself caught perilously in the middle. Sacrifices must be made and bonds between brothers, friends, lovers, and a father and his son are put to the ultimate test.

SIMPLE MINDS: EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE

Simple Minds – Once Upon a Time

The film drops on December 22nd. Everything Is Possible tells the inspirational story of how a group of working-class kids growing up in post-industrial Glasgow dared to dream. Those kids became Simple Minds, the most iconic and influential Scottish band in history.

Told through hidden hand events-including the punk explosion, the emergence of MTV and the impact of Live Aid-that appeared out of nowhere to propel Simple Minds not only into existence and on to global success but also to reboot the band. Everything Is Possible is a feature-length documentary directed by Joss Crowley and produced by Lonesome Pine.

TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS

The film drops on December 8th. Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts will take audiences on a ’90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce a whole new faction of Transformers-the Maximals-to join them as allies in the existing battle for Earth. That isn’t all. Over the festive period, you can also catch more episodes of series that have already premiered on the service. Frasier continues with episodes 9 & 10 on December 8th. All-Star Shore Series 2 will have episodes 11 & 12 become available with all episodes available from December 11th. Fellow Travelers will see episodes 6-8 drop with all episodes available from December 16th.

Nathan Fielder & Benny Safdie’s The Curse will have episodes 4-8 available with the entire season available from December 13th. NCIS: Sydney will investigate episodes 4-8 while the entire season is available from January 13th. While Lawmen: Bass Reeves will ride in with episodes 6-8 with the season available in full from December 17th.
