Beetlejuice 2 Wraps Filming

The ghost with the most has wrapped! Tim Burton celebrates the end of filming by sharing a picture from the set of Beetlejuice 2.

It’s been 35 years since the ghost with the most last graced our screens; but at long last, Tim Burton has wrapped filming on BEETLEJUICE 2. Frustratingly, Burton was almost over the finish line when the SAG-AFTRA strikes kicked in forcing production to hit the brakes. But with the issues now resolved, filming was allowed to resume. And today, Burton announced that production has finally wrapped on the long-awaited sequel.

The visionary director posted an image to his Instagram account to celebrate the milestone, and it features a familiar set from the original movie. Check his post out below.

THE GHOST WITH THE MOST IS BACK

The sequel has languished in developmental hell since the early 90’s with various talents offering their take on the IP. With some being more favored than others. But after what seemed like an eternity, Burton finally agreed to bring Beetlejuice out for one more haunting. And it promises to be a doozy.  The sequel has been written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, co-creators and co-showrunners of Netflix’s Wednesday. Longtime collaborator Danny Elfman is retuning to compose the score with Brad Pitt’s Plan B producing the sequel for Warner Bros.

Naturally, Michael Keaton is returning as the legendary Beetlejuice and collaborating with Tim Burton again. Other returning cast members are Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz, and Catherine O’Hara returns as Lydia’s stepmother Delia. New additions to the frachise include Monica Bellucci as Beetlejuice’s wife, Willem Dafoe as a law enforcement officer in the afterlife, and Justin Theroux. Rounding out the cast is Jenna Ortega as Lydia’s daughter.

Sadly, details about the sequel are a closley guarded secret, known only to those in the afterlife. But with Michael Keaton retuning as Beetlejuice and Monica Bellucci starring as his wife, maybe some marital hinjnks are on the cards. Either way, all will be revealed when Beetlejuice 2 unleashes the sandworms in cinemas on September 6, 2024.
